Every three years, a panel of five experts in the field of marketing and marketing research votes on the definitions for marketing and market research to ensure that they are up-to-date.
Definition of Marketing
Marketing is the process, institutions, and procedures for developing, communicating, delivering, and exchanging products that are of value to customers, clients, partners, and society as a whole.
Definition of Marketing Research
Marketing research is the activity that connects a marketer to customers, consumers, and the public through information—information that may be used to identify and identify opportunities and issues; create, refine, and evaluate actions; track performance; and enhance understanding of it as a process. It specifies the data required to address these problems, creates the method for gathering data collection, manages and executes the data collection procedure, analyzes the findings, and communicates them in terms of their implications.

Definition of Brand
Industry brand standards define a brand as “an intangible asset” that is meant to generate “distinctive images and connections in minds of stakeholders, resulting in economic value.”
Types of Marketing
Influencer
This approach focuses on engaging influencers who have power over potential customers and using these individuals to distribute a brand message to a larger audience. A brand influences or compensates influencers (which might include celebrities, content producers, consumer advocates, and workers) to get the word out on its behalf.
Relationship
According to the Association of National Advertisers (ANA), relationship marketing is any technique or tactic for segmenting consumers and developing loyalty. Relationship marketing takes advantage of databases, behavioral advertising, and analytics to pinpoint people exactly and develop customer loyalty programs.
Viral
A type of phenomenon that allows and encourages individuals to pass on an advertising message. Named “viral” because the number of people exposed to a message is similar to that of a viral infection or illness jumping from one person to another.

Green
Refers to the creation, marketing, and distribution of goods that are presumed to be environmentally safe (i.e., intended to minimize harmful effects on the physical environment or enhance its quality). This phrase may also be used to describe activities directed at developing, promoting, packaging, and reclaiming products in a sustainable manner that is responsive or sensitive to ecological issues.
Keyword
This technique entails displaying a message to people based on the keywords and phrases they use while searching. This approach has several advantages, including allowing marketers to target the appropriate individuals with the correct message at the best time. When specific keywords are inputted, this method results in an ad being displayed. This phrase refers to achieving top placement in search engine results pages (SERPs).
Guerilla
An uncommon and inventive approach to achieving the greatest results from the least resources.

Outbound
The marketer makes contact with the client through means such as TV, radio, and digital display advertising in order to promote a product. It is frequently utilized to promote consumers’ knowledge and favor for a brand.
Inbound
Inbound marketing is the process of attracting, retaining, and converting potential customers to paying clients through various tactics. Email, events, content, and the website design are examples of inbound strategies. The goal of inbound is for the firm to establish itself as a source of useful information and solutions to challenges in order to encourage customer confidence and loyalty.
